Checked this at work as well today, had the law books off the dusty shelf!

All that has been said is about right, interesting bit is the distances.

Indicators. according to Schedule 7 pt 1 of the Road vehicles Lighting Regs 1989 have to have certain location dimensions as below.

Max distance from side of vehicle - 400 mm
Separation between opposite sides of indicators , 500mm unless vehicle is less than 1400 mm wide (irrelevant to us methinks).

HOWEVER, the above two only apply to vehicles first used after1/4/1986 and prior to that there is no requirement for max distance or separation. Basically that means RobTwins set up using the reversing lights in the Satelite bumper is completely legal as long as they are orange and flash between 60-120 times a minute.
There is a minimum height of 350mm for all vehicles , but that shouldnt pose a problem either.

Bowmans flour mill at Ickleford, Hitchin only do gross wieght as it is on a slight incline, but you wont need axle weights. Other option is Hatfield, cost about a fiver, for three weights.
I know the operators as I take them plenty of business, usually Mercedes Sprinters.
