indicators for M.O.T

Is there a common approach to fitting rear indicators to mopars?

Like a good lens that sticks on perhaps or a lens that looks okay on a mopar??

For cars younger than '65 the M.O.T test does actually require orange turn signals but has anyone been lucky with the original turn signals on a post '65 car??

hmmmmm...some nice ford focus side repeaters would look nice........

depending on how much originality you want, converting the reversing lights to indicators and using orange bulbs works well. Always assuming you have reversing lights fitted that is

Well, my '84 Daytona has passed 21 or so MOTs with red indicators ...

You can mount your yellow rear indicators on the parcel shelf in you want.

There is nothing to say that they have to be at the rear of the vehicle.

The interesting thing about this, from the point of view of parcel shelf mounting, is angles of visibility, and the fact that the outer angle is 80 degrees. This could be difficult to achieve from the parcel shelf, except that the regulation applies to vehicles:

"A motor vehicle first used on or after 1st April 1986 "

I assume, if you can prove the car was used, on British roads before that, you would be okay.

What is also interesting is that there is no maximum or minimum requirement for size of lamp.

Could you get away with a small cluster of amber LED's ?

However, I assume that the regulations are much more lax in this respect for older cars.

Reversing lights are an option but they are right next to the numberplate so not very far apart...

Wire some indicators onto the rear window shelf. Remove after MOT.

TVRs come stock with indicators in the rear window so it shouldn't be a problem.

Nope, I've overtaken a few local traffic police, using the indicators, and not been pulled. Also in the folder of info I got with the car it mentions that a previous owner hadn't been pulled either.

Like Dave has said before, he's only been pulled once with red indicators, and even then they were just checking for him!

Seem to remember there is a legal requirement for minimum distance apart for indicators. We had/have our reversing lights on the Satellite wired up as indicators with orange (painted) bulbs, but technically they are too close (either side of no. plate).
Never failed an MOT on that tho.
Having said all that tho, you can usually find a testing station who is either lenient re the letter of the law, or who as a different interpretation of it.
Best to shop around, perhaps just ask what they think they requirements are before you book it in.

Yeah but I did nearly have two accidents because idiots behind me wanting to overtake didn't realise they were turn signals and I also started getting hassle with finding an MOT inspector that would pass them.

Not wanting the fuss of having to keep messing around with them I just converted the little reflectors in the middle of each lens on the Challenger so they flash amber.

They don't seem to notice there is no reflector during the test.

there`s an issue with amber side lights now, that are also turn signals, you can`t have a unit doing both, which is bad news if you have anything thats got hidden lights,

I got that covered too. I fitted a hidden switch that switches off the side light bit in the front turn signals. I also have UK spec headlights with sidelights built in.
