Help. has anyone sen these lines before?

Post by vipergts »

Help urgently needed.

I'm having trouble sourcing these lines on the basis that they are peculiar.

has anyone got these brake lines fitted to their car or seen the like.

They are unusual I'm told because the big block you see at one end bolts straight onto the caliper.

The '80s Mopars have a similar setup, I've not had trouble getting aftermarket braided versions of those so they can't be that unusual!

Thanks James for pointing us in the right direction 8-)

Lee would the brake line measure about 15 1/4"??

It's a front brake line off of a 1988 Diplomat Salon or SE, every other 80's Mopar line I checked is a lot longer and has a different frame end, the diplomat is the only one with the 2 correct ends and close to the length it should be.

Certainly doesn't belong on your 69 charger

Blimey neil....looks like you've come up trumps.

i'll measure it tomorrow.

thanks James

I wonder what calipers I'm running then.

when the brakes were working they were certainly powerful

hhmm wonder if they are Cordoba calipers, does the VIN say it was a drum car ??

Spose it could have been a 4 piston caliper at some point, these are like the stuff that drops out the back of rocking horses so may have been swapped

their must have been a good reason for the odd lines as correct charger brake lines have been available the whole time

4 piston caliper set ups don`t have hose`s like that on them

Sean, I was thinking that someone swapped out the 4 piston calipers as they are SO hard to find, and repair, and fitted something else as no charger should have lines like that, except maybe the 80's ones but they are a lot longer

The Diplomats were available with a cop spec package, which included nice brakes ...

It's all a bit peculiar.

Are you suggesting we can't get new lines....The brakes worked very well up to the point where the rears locked up but as you know thats another saga.

Call me if you have good news only the weathers not gonna last I'm sure.
