Well, I sold my blue '72 rangey, (at a profit) so I decided to buy another, this one from Norfolk. Needs a little bit of , errm, work !

But these things are starting to grow on me . I currently have three including one daily (on dual fuel).

These early 'Rover' ones bolt together almost like Landys do, IE, the whole floor comes out (front and/or rear) as do the inner fenders, and the roof! The rear quarters are riveted on. (Later BL versions were just welded together it seems)

Plans for this one are to make a hybrid vehicle using Rangie Chassis and body, and Nissan Patrol engine/transfer, props, and axles/brakes/wheels,instruments and seats.

your a decent enough guy will, but seriously de-ranged roverd, get yerself another charger that needs restorin at least you will have some value in it at the end, brings me out in a sweat just lookin at the work that old rangie needs

Dont look too bad, looks a solid base to start with.

Will I have a 89 Classic vogue with a 3.5 Patrol Diesel Turbo conversion & manual box which was carried out professionally. I have the engine installation manual and wiring details. If you want to take a look at the manual I will bring it to the Nats.

Hi thanks for the offer but my engine is 4.2 diesel. and ,my Rangie is a 1972 , (and I will probably be customising the whole electrical system or just making my own loom ) so I don't think it will help.

I need to use the Patrol instruments as it has electronic speedo , and a tacho too.

I had been looking for a solid 2 door rangey for ages to form the basis of my hybrid , finally one appeared for a bargain price, and is is rot-free!

ok.. this is what i;m aiming for:

but everything I touch will be reliable smooth torquey 4.2 Patrol. Thats .. get in the car and put the patrol key in the patrol ignition. wait for the glowplug light on the patrol dash to go out (whole patrol harness) start the patrol engine. press the servo assisted patrol clutch pedal, engage the patrol gearstick into 1st , press the Patrol throttle pedal and steer the thing with the Patrol steering wheel as the patrol props and axles start turning. Then when I want to stop, press the patrol brake pedal and the patrol brakes will come on. i want to drive in 2WD and do 30MPG and tow a trailer that you can pull away from the traffic lights at idle. but the thing will look like a clunky old slow thirsty range rover I will also have the Patrol standard airlock rear diff, free wheeling hubs , and variable intermittent wipe and all that stuff. I'm actually looking forward to doing the wiring!

This is one of those "just because you can" jobs isn't it?

its getting more and more dismantled at the moment, love the way the shells unbolt from the bulkhead and floors, check it out. 2 people can carry the main shell.

Ok i don;t like the new Patrols (1998 on) had one, didn't like it. too much electronic rubbish on it. And the old shape (1988 on) are now mostly rot boxes! (ok so rangies can be too, but you can buy all the bits for em cheap, unlike Patrols)

and this vehicle is going to be COOOL just you wait and see.. i have a vision
