Upper Ball Joint Removal

Post by TyreFryer »

Does anybody have the tool for removing the upper balljoint from the arm on a B body that I could borrow? Or has anybody found an alternative way of doing it?

Cheers.

Don't fanny around trying different methods. Only use the correct socket and a long old breaker bar. I'm sure someone will be along soon with the correct tool. I take it the A-arm is still on the car (That's a good thing 8-) )
Make sure a previous gorilla hasn't welded them in.......

A arm is still on the car Kev, can't see any welding. The new ball joints have a VERY shallow thread, is this right?

Yep! Sort of cuts itself. When I got mine I thought someone was 'aving me on and selling me some old secondhand shagged ones tarted over!

I made a socket to get them on and off. They are very tight and the arm may need to be warmed up to get them off.

Love the tool Mick, I need to get some welding gear.

Thanks very much for the offer Adam, I picked one up from Blue this afternoon so I'm OK now but appreciate the offer.
