Not sure if i should be doing this, but wot the heck

Not had a really good summer with the old aus charger, i even set off to the nats, but never made it. I was planning on doing this work over the winter but have started early. The plan is to fit a 383 and 727, i dont have to alter the trans tunnel or cross member, just have to make some new engine mountings and alter the master cylinder mounting bracket. and i will guess a fair few other things by the time im done

Lots of work to be done in the engine bay before the engine is fitted, but hoping to be ready well before next summer..

I think it will be a great job when it's done mate, the main thing is that the car gets loved and abused the way it should.

Good one! Drivers side manifold/ header will be your biggest problem, but other than that it should be a mostly bolt in deal once you get the engine mounts sorted. Watch your pitman arm to oil pan clearance, some pans will hit on lock, a "C" body pan is notched and clears nicely.

Hopefully its gunna see some 1/4 mile runs next year James, as for the exhaust, the engine is from a right hand drive fury i used to own so the cast manifolds have the outlets in the correct position, but i would rather have headers, guess i could buy a build your own header kit, has anyone ever built headers using one of those kits... ?

Headerwise I would think your best bet would be a pair of Hedman Headers for a "B" body application, passenger side would most likly bolt straight in, leaving just the drivers side to cut n shut as needed, might not be the end of the world...

Did you know you can get a six pack for that motor

you could always use a remote booster off a slant six equipped Aussie car

i'd go up to fatter torsion bars

have a chat with Minty/terry he is sticking a 440 in his with a 8 3/4 out back

trans tunnel may need a bash or two for a 727. they had a special mallet at the factory when they did the 727 equipped police chargers

and the floor does for an 8 3/4

although ive been shouted down on here before i think the front of a valiant charger is ever so slightly wider than an A body. earlier aussie A body width K frames do not fit

headers? i'd look to Australia at least there is an outside chance they may have designed them based on fitment into an aussie Mopar i.e right hand drive with the steering box on the chassis

Fitting a "B" engine makes a whole more sense than fitting a "RB" 440.

I looked into fitting a 440 back when I had my Charger but so many issues made me realise a 383 or 400 would be a much better option. These days there are many cheap stroker kits for the "B" engine too.

I have a set of 383/400 rhd headers and exhausts for sale! They are big tube and ally sprayed, the system is 4" - 3.5". Let me know if you need some pics, I'll send 'em!!! £400 the lot, allegedly they were £1000 to build, and that was just the headers........

Thanks for the advise guys, i will keep you posted as to how things are going, here is a pic of wot i got up today, note the rust round the steering box mounting, that was hidden under badly welded plate, hey.. but then rust is all part of owning one of these

Id look into what Clivey suggested...a six pack...on the 383...not a six pack of beer!!!
