throttle linkage parts
anyone suggest a UK supplier of carb linkage parts
want to custom build a linkage useing threaded rod and heim joints
can't get the throttle cable clamp right on current setup and nobody does off the shelf for my motor
want to remote mount it and actute throttle with rod and heim/balljoint from swivel mounted between engine lifting studs. i.e a good 6-8 inches away
means i can get the return spring in line with throttle lever and connected to engine not body and greatly reduce the likelyhood of carearing into the back of somthing if the spring snaps or comes off from its current mounting
idealy it would be great to gently carress the parts before purchase so i can design-in-me-mind when i see whats available
so looking for a london/ southeast shop or supplier

quite possibly
little bitty balljoints
with either threaded male end like a track rod end bit that goes into the track rod
or even better threaded tube like a track rod end that is kinda female
but like they came off action man's motor
and the threaded rod or tube to go in beween 2 of them
like a track rod off action mans motor
swivels and levers and stuff would be of benefit as well
all the stuff you get in carb kits but don't and can't seem to get just off the shelf

L/Rover used them on series 2 and 3. For real adjustable metal joints try a Routemaster bus throttle linkage. Mower shops, mini diggers, plant hire repair places.

smashing ideas gents.
will follow both up
twas the twin weber setup on a beetle that gave me the idea
when your carb is in a position it was never meant to be in, you don't want the cable to be kinked or indeed the throttle return spring to bash on the body.
Alternatives must be found.

dave have you a bearing supplier near you, they can supply all this sort of stuff cheaper than any automotive place and know what you will need for your aplication. i deal with these people , www.igus.co.uk, plastic bearings and joints, strong enough for all but the most stressed parts (brakes , suspension) and a lot lighter than metal equivelents and are self lubricating. as for rods etc just let me know how long you need them and the threads and i will knock some up for you.
too much is never enough
Ohhhh nice tip
i do have a bearing place near me that JohnR reccomended he gets generic bearings for JCB work there and snap rings for gearboxes i think....i'd forgotten all about that...hes a mine of info that man when it comes to places only the trade ever find.
