I'm with you. :thumbright:

Personally, I think if a car is registered as a historic vehicle for taxation purposes, then it should be kept original. My rear indicators have been converted, but I'm converting them back to original. I'm sure I'll find an MoT station that is understanding. ;)

I agree too, amber indicators have ruined many a classic Yank!!

I don't believe it was always "illegal" either - it was only in the mid/late '80's ??? when they brought that in or started enforcing it. Before that it was "if that is how it came origianlly it's OK". just like seat belts aren't reqd in a car that was not made with them......

Almost had two accidents due to people not realising I was indicating and one pull by a copper who thought my wiring was messed up.
Then many of my local MOT places said they would no longer pass my car. So to just make life easier I converted my rear lights.

Yeah, agree there Dave, not now, but years ago. NOW l ALWAYS indicate a long time before l brake, at least that way there's a flashing light for them to see before the brake lights come on! :)

That is what I was doing anyway Steve. It is just that the world is full of bloody THICK people.

I tell you what. If you REALLY want to find out how STUPID some drivers are, try going to work on a pushbike every day like I do these days. You get the opportunity to meet loads of them. :x

If you don't have amber rear indicators, don't expect your insurance company to pay up if you have an accident. I am surprised insurance companies don't slam more American car owners for this.

Also, don't confuse what is passable on an MoT with what is actually legal on the road.

You can put amber indicators on your parcel shelf. Nothing in the C&U or SVA says they have to be on the outside rear of the vehicle. Just make sure sightlines are legal.

Also surprised that anything passes SVA without amber rear indicators or fog light. Your truck is illegal.

Yes,it's the construction&use regs that matter, get pulled by VOSA in a layby and have your vehicle impounded until fixed. The MOT means almost nothing.

The answer is soooo simple guys its untrue. All you need to do is put BMW badges on the front and rear and hey presto you're automatically exempt from having to give any indication whatsoever!.........Winkers
