Howdy Wildman,
If you take that bright work panel from the back of the car, hey presto - 69 here we come. You will find that cheap tin foil panel was added to the 69 for 70 so whats behind is as 69 - i.e., 69 is painted black without panel. Apart from that, the back ends are the same. Be careful removing the panel though cost it aint that robust. Its worth a couple o quid to ya in good nick, so tread boldly (but carefully) my man.
Will can testify to the backend situation between 69's and 70's

yeah, i was clueless at first but the main panel is the same but there are more holes punched in the 70 panel (for that silver area) and no holes at the sides or along the top for the 3 piece finisher that the 69 has.
If you weld up the old holes and drill new ones all the 69 stuff should just go on , unless the 70 tail lamps don't have the holes for the lamp chromes ? anyone?

The round side markers are 68 only. Rectangular ar used on 69 AND 70 cars.
Russ,
gimme the VIN and I'll decode it for ya mate!
From what I have seen, she looks like a 69 OK with a 70 tail panel trim but we can be sure if you like.
Send me a picture of the front panel below the bumper front 3/4 view too if you can. Thats a giveaway cos the panels on the 69 and 70 in this area are totally diffeent and wont interchange.

Thanks to y'all for tryin' to sort this out but at the moment this is not my #1 issue.
Since Xmas no work has been done towards making it driveable although i have bought a new carb iv'e done nothing towards getting it running.
I still have to fit Rad, Carb, do the plumbing, weld the reducers to the zausts, solder and crimp starter wire, get working oil pressure and water temp gauges, prime the oil pump etc.
All before breaking the cam in and M.o.t.
So near and yet so far!
