Can't get me head round it....again

If the motor manages a trap speed capable of say a low 11 , why does it cover the 1/4 mile a second slower?
I realise the problem in my case , but if the speed is there , why can't you get the ETs , regardless of any problems.
Maybe a silly question , but i don't know.

MPH is an indication of the power you are making at the rear wheels.
ET is an indication of how much power you are transferring from the wheels to the track.
Also it assumes you are not bogging off the line or running out of fuel at the top end.

1.591 + 112.88 = 11.722
or
1.570 + 111.42 = 11.850

Dave, now you mention that, if running out of fuel at the top end equates to the car screaming at 7,000rpm across the line.....does it not also find itself under the same conditions at the top of each gear change too, assuming we're shifting at the same rpm we cross the line? ....I'll just go and fill me glass again while I wait for enlightenment!

I don't think Adam/Brutus gold is pulling that kind of rpm.
The Sox was indeed pulling 7K; and will be designed to do so again.
Julies car with the low HP motor could not pull above 6400 at the traps even though it was running 1.5 second 60 foot times as it just did not produce the power to do so (in support of Dave's point above). Would only manage 117mph.
The Sox had rubbish 60 foot times due to a convertor mis-match and dirt in the carb; but had the hp to pull 130 mph terminal speed. This is how it ran 1 second quicker than Julie's car.
The trick is to get a great 60 foot time AND have the ability to pull the desired rpm at the traps.

This was'nt a thread to bore you with my ETs , as it has a thread on it's own.
Anyhow , trap speed 119.7 , 60 foot 1.8 , RPM 5000 , you know the rest.
Ps , bit of gas used.

That's pretty good - you need a set of 4.30's or 4.56's in there

I was running 4.10's and 28" tall tyres, so (as ever) it has got to be down to weight. Sorting your fuel will give you a fighting chance.
I would love to see how that car would go with a set of Johhny mental gears in it
