air shocks

hi guy's whats the genral opinion on air shocks? in the process of getting some new springs from espo, but had considered air shocks, are these considered a bodge job over fitting new springs? also what do they handle like? also how much does a set of shocks cost? ta ta for now trev

Not good - it transfers all the strain and load to the Shock Tower/Reinforcement as opposed to the Springs.

It is good as a quick way to lift the car for tyre clearance and they worked well on a Beuwick I had when towing, but I do not think it is very kind to the Chassis.

Does not really improve ride quality either , just makes it more harsh.

Just my personal opinion.

Yep, Pete and Terry are right, took mine off and replaced 'em with KYBs. :wink:
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

will definetly go with new springs, my car has recently had kyb's fitted and i was loath to remove them, the replys you lads have given is what i suspected, but as i have no personal experience of using them i thought iwould ask, thanks a lot trev
