Steering box overhaul
I,ve just overhauled my power steering box cos fluid was pouring out as quick as I put it in. I put in new bearings, seals and 'o' rings. Now it's reasembled, the input shaft moves in and out 5 mm ish but if I pull on the shaft
and turn it, it feels fine with no backlash. The only thing different to when it was removed is that it has no fluid in it but I don't remember how it was when I removed it. So is the movement normal or do I strip it again (and possibly damage the new input seal) to find out whats wrong?

its a scan of a chapter of the factory manual for a RHD version of your steering box
the internals are the same.
