Dart beater back on the road

Post by MilesnMiles »

Well, its been a long 8 months but the Dart is MOT'd and back on the road.
Now fitted with Bluebuilt transmission and new convertor, steering and brakes that work.

Took it for a spin tonight, 2nd gear shifts spin the tyres without a whole lot of provocation and the old 2-3 gearchange lag has gone
Looking forward to racing it very soon, but suspect that continued lack of traction will be a hinderance!

Anyway, thanks to MMA guys, Mike for tools, knowledge and 'anything is possible' attitude, Blue for the rebuilt trans, Pete for the vertor which despite being for a big block seems to work on the 360 and 'Nana for the yet to be fitted 3.91 gears.

Great, glad you're happy with it, I'm not surprised you can feel the difference, the box was on it's last legs.

Just wait till you get the 3.91's in, traction will be a thing of the past.....

Local track is not prepped, best last year was 14.4 (14.3 at Shakey) on my old 318 convertor and very worn transmision.
With the current 3.23s I reckon 14 dead would be great and 13s with the 3.91s.
i've set the car up quite well, but no slicks and no lsd will prevent me achieving what i think I could get e.g low 13s :thumbright:

Cheers, Tony and Adam. One of these days i might cost it up, but it's not a lot compared with some cars. Mind you, if I break it it'll feel like a lot of money!

Kev was my role model ( )in that he went fast (very fast!) on a budget. I still remember him getting his first 13s!

Tony, what was your Duster like with 3.91 gears in terms with living with high revs etc..on a daily basis?
