96/97 ram auto box

Hi a mate of mine has a ram but the box needs looking at anyone happy to do this

It is holding in second gear and Rev's out before changing up or you have to back off the gas for it to up shift

really needs a scanner on it first, and one that will read chrysler interface, OBD scanners wont BTW

also buy a workshop manual (Dodge not haynes) just might save your mate ££

Hi Paul,

I'd check the TV/Kickdown cable is functioning OK. I'm guessing if its stuck this might result in something like you described?

Also does it get serviced regularly? Check the transmission fluid/filter.

Also if he changes the filter himself, its worth adjusting the bands whilst you are in there. You'll need an inch/pound torque wrench.

Hope this helps as they are all easy/cheap things to try, otherwise it could get expensive
