Hilborn injected 65 Belvedere

Post by Jon Connolly »

Currently building a 1965 Belvedere with mechanical Hilborn on petrol

New fuel tank fitted in front

Line lock is on

Radiator will need replacing with custom made jobbie, together with electric water pump and electric fan

Hilborn is now up and running ( will post video later )

Fibreglass hood to be fitted

Seats and harnesses to go in

Cage to be fitted

Paint and hand lettering to be done

This will be a bit of nostalgia fun ... 12 secs will do

Here`s a teaser

:D

I'm very intrigued by this car Jon. I'm sure we'd all like to know a lot more about it. What's the history ? If it's not an altered wheelbase car - why not? It's not as though you've got much to occupy yourself with

Lots and lots of pics please!

OK .... this is an idea of what it should look like ... I can`t draw but you get the idea.

Car will be road legal ( just ) for very occasional road use ( Ace cafe / Wheels day / Tunnel run ), but primarily for track.. low 12 sec will be fine.

Bog standard 440 with full mechanical Hilborn on petrol.

All steel body with glass hood, standard green tinted full glass and trims.

Rev pattern 727 with shift kit.

4000 stall convertor.

Line lock.

Wheels ... 28 x 10 - 15 Gasser ET style magnesium ?? rear + A.R.E. Torq Thrust D 145 r15 78 s front.

Front Moon style alluminium vertical fuel tank in engine bay.

MSD 6al ignition leads and distrib ( currently on points ).

Cage, 2 bucket seats, 2 harnesses.

Standard wheelbase ( although I may alter it next year ?? but think a full 10 / 15 conversion would be a nightmare to drive ).

Cooling - tba.

Paint ... 2 tone solid colours with hand lettered bottom half in one shot and lacquered over via my friend Dan.

Car is not a copy / replica of anything and is a bit of fun and is supposed to look like something a privateer may have been able to race in 66 / 67 / 68??

There is loads to do and it has to be fitted around everything else and money, so aiming for Wheels day 2010.
