Being the cheapskate that I am (and also liking to be a little self sufficient) I've spent some time on the lathe today after asking for some bar ends.
Not completely finished yet,but the general idea is that I'll put my own cam bearings in.

Why are some of them shorter than the others?

Is there a reason or does it not matter?

Actually,it doesn't seem to matter about the length,so long as the guide goes through the full width of the bearing. What does matter is how far the bearing presses into the hole in the block. Just been reading on some Buick forum where some bloke put his bearings in with plastic pipe and a hammer

Plastic pipe & fittings of different diameters should get the job done.

Be careful if you are aiming to put them all in in one hit. AUD$10 sez all the oil ways don't line up and you have to take a few out!!! One at a time is the go! Looking good though. When I saw your "bar ends wanted" post I didn't really understand what you were after...............................But I'm an electrician......Bar ends were the bits that screwed in the end of my GSX1100 handlebars.........I'll get my coat! (Ooops! Don't own one!)
