Faster times , Pod or Shakey?

What's the reason better times are had @ the Pod? , bearing in mind it's uphill both tracks are pretty good , would it be due to the wind factor getting slower times @ Shakey? , it seems most pick up around 2/10ths @ the Pod over Shakey , me included.

If you've got Google Earth installed, measure the length of both tracks. Looks like the Pod is a few feet short of 1/4 mile and SCR is spot on. Doesn't sound a lot but how long does it take to move the car 2 feet from a standstill?
I always feel like I'm getting better grip at the Pod, the track gets used more and sees a lot more of the faster cars that lay rubber.

Good point Mick.
I don't understand the 2ft from stand still? , if Shakey were a longer track then it would make a difference @ the end of track , how much ET difference 2ft would make @ over 100MPH i don't know.

Mr H. always states that a fastest time at Shakey does not count.
The most accurate timing system is at the 'Pod.

Perversely, I've always found Shakey to be a couple of tenths quicker than the Pod. I put it down to the fact that you usually have the prevailing SW wind behind you, whereas it's in your face at the Pod. Maybe Shakey favours slower cars (like mine) on street tires?

The timing system at Shakey's is taken to a test house to be certified every year.

I seem to get a better mph at Shakey's for some reason. I was told some time ago that both tracks climb up hill but the Pod climbs a little more than Shakey's.

Its a well known fact that 60fts are better at the pod but doesn't mean you will get a better overall et than shakey.

My best ever ET's have been at Shakey. My best MPH was at North weald, but we leaned very quickly that you just couldn't trust the clocks there, 12.5 @125 indeed.....

Thought your PB was at Shakey (and Al's and Mick's).
