Project "Hell hath no".... '64 Fury

Post by Jeff »

Well if I get it, I will know tomorrow I do have plans.

At the moment, I am looking at 4 bbl intake, carb and TTI's
From what I have read, that will perk the 318 Poly up a tad, Then slide the nitrous plate under it for weekends, from what I can gather with a 100 shot of nitrous, that should give me around 370- 390 HP.

Need a Suregrip rear end, as it is an open diff at the moment. I can also get 8 or 9 inch steels for $90 each.

As for the body, well in a year or two I have plans, Spoken to a few people that have done this conversion.... I can get the doors for $250 a piece (glass ones) The pillar is easy to relocate I have been assured, the rest is just bodywork. time consuming but easy! I can also get glass trunk, hood, fenders, bumpers! All off the shelf!

So that is a plan, right? Owner just called me, he has a 440 and 727 60,000 miles when pulled 5 years ago $500! Damn!

If you're going to start messing with the back axle Jeff, check to see if it has the original 8 3/4" with the bolt on flanges. Those things are a pain in the arse to service the brakes and a later diff will not bolt straight in. Be best to find the right width axle from a later car and work with that. I'd grab that 440 rather than mess with the poly.....

Too low at the front Jeff, get it up in the air!

By the way, I agree with Blue, do a deal on the 440! :thumbright:

If I was on a budget I would just drive it and enjoy it.
I'm sure you won't as that is part of the fun.

Planning is good, but taking a working car off the road for big mods can cause more heartache....

I know Pete.... But it would have to be off from October/ November till April anyway, due to snow. So 5 months in the shop should be enough time. This will not be in the near future!

This winter will see motor, trans and rear end sorted I hope.

If I get work.... It gets done. If not, it will be a stocker next summer.

Only if the Bird is a Cockrell! A Cock in the Bush obviously gathers no Moss, STD's yes, but not Moss, unless you know about my last visit to the Clinic when they had to take a sample...........
