Glue

Hi,

Does anyone know of any glue (or the best glue) to glue plastic that will be brake fluid proof?

I think I have cracked the plastic brake fluid reservoir where it goes through the grommets into the steel master cylinder. I was a bit 'vigourous' in trying to get the cap off, little realising that it is dead easy and simple

Now it leaks from the front grommet area slightly.

Oh, this is the Buick, not the Monaco.

I think I can syringe enough fluid out to be able to pop the reservoir off, see if it is cracked, and glue it, plus check the grommets. Sadly, it seems neither grommets or reservoir are available separately (unless someone has a duff master cylinder with good resrvoir).

It could be a £60 mistake if I can't fix it.

Damn.

tigerseal or windscreen bond will pretty much glue anything to anything & are pretty good @ standing up to oils/fluids etc

Sandy, I may be wrong here but I think that the more modern reservoirs are industry standard distance across the spigots & install angle that go into the reservoir for most passenger cars, so you may be able to get away with a good second hand one from a breakers...

Worth a try? It's 'only' the reservoir after all and if it don't leak, job's a good-un. No worse than using glue I suppose...

That is interesting... cheers Philth.

Did some checking and the reservoir is the same as on Third Gen GM F-Bodies, so surely I can pick one up somewhere second hand.

Anyone?
