Talk about 'for the want of a nail the horse was lost!' I manged to get the whole interior out of the car, dumped it into the studio ready to start restuffing, and then got defeated by the bloody headrests. I can't see any sort of catch, release, hole for a screwdriver, etc. Also my first solution to most problems (brute force) doesn't seem to have had any impact on the thing. I don't even think my favourite tool, the hand held energy transference device, can come into play.
If someone could tell me the secret (preferably before I set to the sodding things with a chain saw) I would be grateful.

Chain saw is about right ! they are held with a spring clip that snaps into a groove on the back of the chrome arms, the grooveisa teperedaffairwitha a sharp edge uppermost, they are pain, if you were taking the covers off then it is easy but if you are laying the new ones over then not so as you can't get to the clips, you may be able to feel them by pressing the cover in on the back of the seat but I doubt it. they are supposed to pop out with a sharp upwards thump but experience has shown otherwise!
Good luck man!

Isn't that an album by Iron Butterfly or a Russian Chess grand master?Alex wrote:grooveisa teperedaffairwitha

Seriously though, thanks Alex, I'm waiting for the blood to clot before I go back in there (reminds me, I must get a tetanus booster) but I'll let you know how I get on.
Alex, I see what you mean now! I thought the clip as somewhere near the top, I dodn't realise the bars were about a foot long! In the end I put a chunk of wood under the rest and brough the energy transference device into play. It still took a series of pretty heavy blows to get the damned thing off.
Now all I need to do is find some burlap and rubber foam, someone pass the yellow pages!
