ive bought a edelbrock torker maniforld for my 318 and a 750 performer series carb to go with it. is it to big for the 318? if so is there anything i can do to make is suitable for my motor,ie new jet's? or will it be ok as is?
ive also bought a edelbrock pro flow air filter to Bananarama! off. will there be much tinkering to get it running right? will i need a new throtle cable,ect?

750 edelbrock carb set up

Andy, the Performer 750 is a little big for a stock 318. You may lose a little throttle response, and mpg, compared to a 600cfm, but I'm sure you can tune it for good performance.
Your carb uses metering rods and jets for the main circuits. The beauty of the Edelbrock/Carter design is that it is very easy to make changes by removing the top cover with the carb in situ on the engine. The metering rods, and the springs that control when they "step-up" to the enriched circuit, can be changed in 2 mins. No removing the carb and/or draining the fuel bowls like on earlier Holley products.
I'd recommend buying the appropriate Edelbrock tuning kit for your carb, which includes an assortment of metering rods, jets, springs etc. Your carb should have come with Edelbrock's excellent owners manual , but click the link, if not.
My experience was that the 750 comes jetted very lean out of the box for a 440, but that might suit your 318, depending on your cam etc.
Your existing throttle cable should be OK if you have bought the Edelbrock Chrysler adaptor bracket.
