caster on street strip car

I've just fitted new tubular upper control arms and i keep thinking about making my car road legal, just to test things and have the odd drive down to the pub.
Now i know, for high speed stability, a race car needs as much caster as possible but the downside to this is the steering is heavy.
Can i get away with a setting that will give me the best of both worlds, safety at speed and lighter steering.

See what 4.5 degrees feels like. I wouldn't use less than 3 degrees though.
