Hi to all from new member 1968Polara383

Hi everyone, hope you are all well and avoiding the snow! Thought I would spend a few minutes putting a message on introducing myself and my car. Ive been an American car 'spectator' since the early 70's when my parents gave me a hotwheels set with a small catalogue (which I still have) full of pics of muscle cars with redlines, wild paint etc. I was hooked and have spent the last 40yrs since then car spotting on TV shows, reading books about American cars and dreaming of owning one. Lots of things seem to have got in the way over the years....usual stuff like kids, houses, work etc but last Autumn, whilst browsing the internet, I found my 68 Polara Sedan. I thought 'what the hell' and went for it! Shes not a muscle car and didnt break the bank, but is a very original, solid and complete car with a great interior with no damage, parts missing or the dreaded 80's speaker cutouts! She has a 383 4 Bbl, 727 transmission and 8 3/4 rearend which is all original. Bodywork all straight with reasonable paint(few dodgy areas but no rust), chrome good and original and all exterior trim good. Shes got what I believe to be an original 58k on the clock and everything works except the aircon and heater. Im not to bothered about aircon but the heater will be a project soon. Ive already had some great advice from members re a starting/ running problem I have and have been made to feel very welcome by all. Thanks everyone, stay safe and all the best.....Steve

Thanks to everyone for a very warm welcome and you guys have got some fantastic cars!!

Re the history of my car... I know from she was built in the Belvidere Plant, Illinois and from the certicard, was sold new to a chap in Arkansas on 12/10/68. There is a big gap then till she was owned by the last US keeper, Mr Nardelli from Whiting, New Jersey till 2008. Then she was purchased and imported to the UK by Dave from Yorkshire who then, via a friend, sold her on to me. Ive written to Mr Nardelli but I believe he has moved on and hasnt replied to my letter. Dave has been really helpful and has some history that he will forward to me when he gets the chance to.

I agree that you get a lot of car for the money with C bodies. Im lucky that I like almost all 70s and older cars, and as I cant come close to affording a Charger, Challenger or other muscle car, my Polara ticks a hell of a lot of boxes and hasnt broken the bank!

Ive attached a few more pics and thanks again for the welcome and help on forums etc

Cheers Steve
