Radiator shroud fitting info reqd

Hope this reaches the 5% of members who might actually have the info we need....

Looking at getting a shroud for our 22" rad in the 69 Sport Satellite, and notice from Year One, the bracket kit we need looks like this

But I cant think how these would work fitting a shroud like this ('library pictures'

)

to our rad which looks like this (from a C body, apparently

)

Has anyone with a similar set up got any pics of how the shroud fits to the rad? Just want to be sure we dont buy a shroud that isnt any good for our rad

I can show you pictures of mine but it's 4 inches bigger than yours.

ohhh matron. No brackets on mine, shroud bolts straight on.

If yours bolts straight on (to the rad?), where does it bolt on to? The 22" shroud's bolt holes are on lugs that are parallel with the face of the radiator, so I presume those long brackets attach to the sides of the rad and provide a face for the shroud fixing lugs to bolt on to.

I'm struggling to see how a shroud of this style would fit without brackets

Unless it's fixed thru the fins

No it has to be one of the other. Personally, if it needed brackets i would just make some out of ally and paint them black.

there are a quite a few different shrouds for the 22 inch , both in plastic & pressed steel ! & off centered & centered shrouds too , as far as i can remember B & C bodies don't share the same part number ,
not sure why , position of engine in relation to radiator maybe , like the off centered & centered configuration i mentioned above !!
, also two different shroud attaching brackets , off the top of my head ( will look it up later ) there is another set of brackets that are four individual ones , if that makes sense for a earlier 22 inch rad

whats the part number on top of the radiator ? ,

I have a 26" Rad with an undamaged shroud, but it would need a re-core...........

this is the shroud you need by the looks of it ,

( 130 ) 22" B-C Body shroud
( 9176) brackets

although i would find out what model year your radiator come off !!
, these seem to be what you need , although i have read somewhere C & B bodies shrouds are different , weather or not i'm remembering it wrong what i've read many years ago !! sure they were , & specific to fan diameter also !!
taking pictures of mine would be no help , sorry , as i have a 26" radiator
from the picture you posted the rad frame don't look like , to me whats in the link i posted , although could be the way the picture is !! ?

will investigete some more !!

nother idea like whats been mentioned , buy the shroud & fabricate brackets to fit ,
i did have /had did ? loads of pictures of a unrestored roadrunner really low milage , pictures of every thing under the hood , that had a 22 inch rad ,
not sure what i save it as or disk or deleted it , will post it here when & if i find it

Our rad is a 1970 C body rad. Dunno why? Same one that was in it when we got the car way back when

Hard to say whether their '130' or '328' would be the right one, but at $169, we might be better off with the one that Dave B is selling

Trouble is we dont know which version that is

On the other hand... ideally we'd have a '69 22" B-bod rad (part no 2949 053) which is 1/2" thinner than the C-bod rad, so we'd be able to use the viscous fan we bought... then we could get the right shroud & brackets to go with it. It's not a 'matching numbers' thing, just a 'get parts that fit together right' thing.

Nice idea Pete but we've only got a 22" rad support, being a 318 car (tho i know some B/RB cars had 22" too)

had a look up the factory part numbers for 70 model year fan shroud for B & C bodies
with a 22" radiator with out A/C 383 /440

C - body shroud -- 2998330 - radiator -2998964
B - body shroud -- 2998328 - radiator - 2998957
brackets for both - 2949176

---------------------------
69 model year

C - body shroud --- 2949130 ---- radiator ---- 2949035
B - body shroud --- 2949130 ---- radiator --- 2949053
brackets for both --- 2929176
will look up more stuff later , think all the 22 inch rad cars had a fixed fan only , not that it matters , as your trying to fit the MP clutch fan set up

That part number Rob shows here as a BB rad - non A/C

I have that shroud and brackets on my car.

The cage nuts from the kit go into the rectangle holes in the side of the rad and then the bracket bolts tot eh rad and then there a threaded studs on the brackets to bolt the shroud onto.

D'oH yes your list is correct , Jules got that number incorrect , good job you posted this link , would never have gone back over what i typed ,

its **** 2949053 **** & not 2929053
& the other number 2998567 , must of been superceded with ** 2998957** it shows both numbers

My 69 Roadrunner had a 22" rad. Have a word with Budge and see if he sold it with the car, as it needed a small repair
