Quoting from the October 2007 Practical Classics, page 10, after a quote of the FBHVC position from Jim Whyman the Federations Secretary Practical Classics commented “the Federations position means that enthusiasts who use their classic regularly are without an official body to fight for their cause. The FBHVC said it can’t argue the case for people who do high mileages in their classics despite organising the annual Drive It Day, which is used to demonstrate to the Government that people use and enjoy historic vehicles”

Drive It Day is always held on the nearest Sunday to 23 April. This date was chosen in 2005 to commemorate the 64 cars that set off from London on 23 April 1900 on the first day of the Thousand Mile Trial . an incredible undertaking and one which we believe deserves an annual celebration.

The FBHVC is a great idea in principal, but in my personal opinion (not the view of the MMA) the Federation has lost its way, when it comes to actually driving historic or classic vehicles.
Judging by the way the FBHVC and FIVA are blind to what the EU is doing, we need to ensure we all use our cars and keep a sharp eye on Europe's proposed restrictions.
I wish the Federation would show some backbone instead of pandering to the whims of a bunch of well-heeled "enthusiasts" that are only interested in the historically correct aspect of what they invariably consider as investments rather than machines you can actually drive or race...
That's my rant for the day!
