Radio
Anyone know anyone in the Mopar scene who could take a look at a radio for us, or point us in the right direction ?
It is a 1967 Dodge MusicMaster. It may be valve radio. We have a 1968 Dodge MusicMaster which has 'transistorised' written on it, hence I think the 1967 may be valves.
The 68 radio doesn't fit in the 67 dash.
Thanks in advance.
All the best.

Sorry I am a bit thick but are you saying you have a working '68 that does not fit but a correct '67 that does not work?
Are you looking to have it repaired or converted to transistor and updated to FM? There is a guy in the States that converts them to FM but they look completely stock. I doubt he is cheap though?

Sorry if it appeared confusing.
We have a 67 MusicMaster that does not work (ever since it appeared to start smoking on our test drive at Ted's, and he pulled the fuse).
We got a spare MusicMaster radio, but it is out of a 68 Polara, and it doesn't fit in the 67 dash.
The 68 radio has 'transistorised' written on it, the 67 radio does not. My assumption is that the 67 radio has valves.
We want to have the 67 radio tested, and if it is faulty, fixed, if possible.

Right, so whats the '68 radio got to do with it?!
You can get any vintage radio upgraded to modern internals, even to hook up with CD changers etc - check out back of classic car mags.
I kinda assumed that no Amreican radio would work over here with out some kind of work? But then I would rather listen to a V8!

Yes please, Matt. Will you be going to the Nats ? We have the 1967 Monaco service manual, but apart from a section about how to take it out of the dash there isn't too much about the radio.
Unfortunately, it was only when we got it out that we discovered that the facia's were different between the 67 and the 68, they couldn't be swapped, and the 68 wouldn't have fitted. If I had known that, I would have popped the 20A fuse back in and tried it out, just to see if it really was fried or frying ?
Drat.
As a matter of interest, do you know if Gates of Woodford are still in business ?
All the best
P.S. I hope Katie is well.

I think we sent the radio to the same fellow, Trev, in Bristol.
Got it back yesterday and fitted it today. Working fine
Thanks to Matt S. for the manuals (I will bring them back to the Nats if you are there, Matt ? Plus, tried emiling you on your new address. Not sure if you got it ?)
Thanks to all for advice (again).
