Another day another problem
Started to strip me rear springs etc for the new Caltracs,,, the problem is the brace on the axle that i had fitted when the axle was beefed up has snagged the old shocks and bent them,,,,they are bent good style.... Would this have caused the car to wonder about, and even land up sitting down on one side????car sits level now and i have not touched the torsion bars????

I guess you need to remount/space shocks further away from the casing.pete walton wrote:Started to strip me rear springs etc for the new Caltracs,,, the problem is the brace on the axle that i had fitted when the axle was beefed up has snagged the old shocks and bent them,,,,they are bent good style.... If it was a coil over style shock, I would say yes, they would affect the stance of the car. As the spring is holdimg the weight of the vehicle the shock is doing the compression.damping.
In a leaf spring set up, I would say they shouldnt make the car to sit lower on one side, assuming shock was working correctly.
If the shock was really badly bent & unable to Travel throughouts it full range, then yes. As shock would be bound & wouldt cause the car not to sit level
