Can i get a bit of advice on the best way to do this?
I got a sixpack style scoop to fit the flat steel hood of my Chellenger and i'm unsure of the best way to attatch it.
I was just going to rivet it to the hood outer skin and cover the outer edge of the scoop moulding with a piece of black rubber channel we keep at work.
Me bro reckons i could bond it on but i'm not convinced of that.......
I know a lot of you fit scoops to race cars etc, any ideas?

I think whatever floats your boat and you are happy with the look of the thing. Many are bonded on, and that will probably give the best finish and also be a little more water resistant.
Roydon has a 6 pak scoop on his hood and that is bonded on - his is the lit-off variety as opposed to OM style hinges.....I think he is not going to use it as he is going Tunnel Ram

Fitting that type of scoop to a steel bonnet and it looking good is tricky. Having thought about it, heres what I would do. Clean up the mounting flange of the scoop and get as tight a fit as possible to the bonnet. Masking tape the edge of the scoop and the bonnet leaving just the gap where the two meet. Stick the scoop on with a liberal dose of paintable body sealer such as Tiger seal. Put some weight on the scoop and smooth off the seal as it oozes out of the joint. When you are happy you have a smooth finish, remove the tape and you should have a very neat joint that will not need any further work and won't crack. If you were to pop rivet the flange it would wrinkle and look awful, it would need filler work which tends to crack.

Ta for the advice Blue and Pete, I'll get some sealer that's strong enough, was just concerned about it tearing of after lots of road time.
It's got to look tidy cos I was going to paint the scoop body colour, yellow, if I paint it satin black I suppose the join would look less obvious tho

I just spoke to my mate who does rice cakes and he says they use that Tigerseal all the time to stick on spoilers, arches, roof vents, ludicrous whale tails etc, when I asked him on the strength property's he told me that he can often ruin a panel if he has a customer ask for the item be removed for something else
He said your advice on prep was spot on Blue, thanks
