Well i was trying to beat the rush and get some of these posted Friday nite but photobucket wouldnt play ball for me at home on my old laptop, so had to wait till I could use the work pc .... so apologies if you've seen most of these cars already.

As has been said, the MMA stand looked great - super cross section of cars. Looking forward to next year already, esp if there's a more racey theme, as has already been mentioned ;)

As you prob know by now, we were there courtesy of Classic American, so had a couple of days more to look round than we normally do. What you might not know (I didnt till Thusday morning!) is that Roger should have had the 'EuroNats' spot on the CA stand, but an 'admin' error meant we got asked as well, possibly as some kind of back-up measure in case Roger couldnt make it to the NEC (tho he'd already said he could)..... anyhoo - Roger was happy to be on the MMA stand, we were more than happy to be on the CA stand - it's just a shame it wasnt the other way round as I'm confident Roger would have got their Car Of The Year award as his Charger would have ticked all their boxes - top quality resto back to factory original, and a fresher and more meticulous resto than any of the others on the CA stand.

Despite being there most of Thurs, all of Fri and most of Sunday, there were still stands we didnt get to see. But we did see lots of familiar friendly faces, which broke up the monotony of deciding which car we'd have if we sold the 2 in the garage :-k

ha ha, its phantom mtr cars circuit racer they have not long built a gt now,
he was doing the drive rides for the sporting bears,

the viperceptor, was intitialy just a rendering from one of the jensen guys an old skooler fella he put it up on the jensen board then someone robbed the pics and built the car, the work was done at, Bananarama! me forgot the name them hot rod boys oxford way they done a cracking job of it,

I think Valley Gas did the Jensen? The owner posts on Retro Rides forum, also advertising the original engine for sale over there if anyones interested.

Great pics, i walked all around the show on Friday, thought it was average apart from the American section but your pics make it look great, you shot virtually every car i stopped to look at.

Heard a rumour that one of the Charity car ride drivers had a moment with the armco in an R8 over the weekend

I heard the 300D took the CA trophy?

Thanks for the posting the pics, some great shots & great cars.

I still love the look & lines of the CSL, a mate of mine had 3 or 4 CSL's all at the same time, probably still has them, not seen him for a few years.

He lives in Virginia waters down a very prestigious road, I remember his Dad buying the house next door, as he didn't like the look of some of the prospective neighbours.

I never thought that much of it at the time, guess don't when your younger. If you want to live down that road now your looking at £3 -4 Mill :shock:

Thanks Andy, that's right - 300D won the CA trophy. Well deserved too, IMHO. I reckon it was between him & the Buick. Nice to see a Chrysler muscle car win tho 8-)
And yes, Valley Gas are the peeps with the Viper-powered Jensen on their stand. Stu wasnt keen but I liked it :)
They also had the more conventional hot rod with the blue-lit bare-metal interior (the pic fter the Jensen pics)


Thanks all for the kind words on the pics. I took a load on the Thursday while it was nice & quiet but they only had 1/2 the lights on so everything had an orange tint to it, so had to redo a lot on the Fri & Sun :roll:

Dunno about the rest of the show but the quality on the CA stand wasnt as high as previous years. If they'd managed to get that ('49?) red & white Buick on their stand, and Roger's Charger, that would have given the judges a bit more to think about.

Still, we got there and back without any dramas. Didnt leave too much oil on the red carpet. And didnt need to use the SnapOn booster pack we bought with this weekend in mind :)

As you say, the 300 C or D? was a worthy winner, i called in to see it couple of years ago when i was dragging a couple of cars out of a barn Bolton way. Its amazing what he's achieved on his own and its great to see a letter car on the road in the UK again.

The red and white Buick was sharp, maybe a little over restored IMO. The blue 62 Buick was lovely, but looked to be mostly original as was the Ford LTD and the Imperial. Reminiscent of when my Oldsmobile and your Dodge were there in 04 being compared with nut and bolt restos.

Stand out car for me was the silver Lamborghini Espada, used to walk by one everyday on my way to school as a kid and always wanted one. A proper 4 seat supercar, love the full width glass panel accross the back.
