Basically been doing something biggish most winters , and this year its the turn of the niggle thats been eating away at me for ages - the sloppyness at the front end. Needs new rubber everything basically - so I thought I'll start collecting the parts and then think about it.
Ordered all new bushes, tie rods, balljoints, adjustment sleeves - the works. If its rubber, its new. Job done right ? No...
Started taking it apart and I thought - "You know what, I've never changed those torsion bars. I mean they are heavy duty 779s but they were not meant for that 440 really. Bite the bullet(bullitt? sic) and change the bars. Few PMs and emails later - decided on the new monster Hotchkis ones. Should REALLY tighten it up.
Started stripping it down. Hmm. Admired my beautiful brake lines I made a couple of years ago. hmm. Been meaning to service the brakes for ages. hmm... Am I *really* going to take this apart, powder coat the arms, and put those old brakes back on ? Much chewing, and then a 'sod it'. Big brake kit from wilwood - the works. 12" discs, 4-pots, bearing etc.
Started stripping further. Problem with UCAs. Bolts stuck. Balljoint welded in place. Might be fine. Might not. What to do. Deliberated for a couple of weeks - surfed, researched. Found cheapish tubular. Advised against. Goddam it - I am this far in, lets just do it. SPCs.
So - here I am.
She is in bits, slowly stripping the parts down ready for blasting/coating/bush-pressing etc. The bits are all here (apart from the 'DOH!' parts that I will discover I forgot, obviously).
Here's a couple of pics. Dont expect an update anytime soon. Like I said - life is full at the moment. But I will get there - and the front end should be pretty much done - and hopefully much tighter than now !! That is IT. No more until next year. She's got some appreciating to do now £££

Enjoy...
