Intermittent noise !

Post by Mossy68 »

Hi All.
The Coronet has developed a noise at the back end. The only way I can describe it is like a bearing 'hum' with a train on a track mixed in if that makes sense ?
It happens now and again and lasts 3-4 seconds. Doesn't seem to be any cause ie cornering or accelerating etc. it will sit on a motorway for miles without a sound.
The brakes and bearings were all checked prior to mot and all seemed fine apart from some new self adjusters.
The axle (8 3/4 sure grip ) was low on oil and so was topped up with correct oil although I didn't add any friction enhancer.
Doesn't 'chatter ' cornering from a start.
Any ideas ????
Cheers. Gary :help:

roll down hill in N and sway from side to side if its noisy on one side this would be a wheel bearing but it would be all the time.

Cheers Will.
It's the randomness that's puzzling me.
I can't seem to link it to anything to investigate further.

My bearings sound like that and I know they need doing.

Like a low droning hum.

You might need to get the shaft end play adjusted.
