Unless a car is showing obvious signs of rust, why is there a need to go back to bare metal.

I know personally of 3 people who have stripped their cars back to bare metal over the last couple of years.

2 out of the 3 were horrified, especially as one was a $60,000 import

I also know of a couple of cars that were not repaired with the best practises, but over 10 years later their still looking good, as in show quality. That being said body prep & paint were done well

From what I can see in the pics, the car looks great & I wish you all the success in your future build. I look forward to reading the updates

cheers mate, the car had a "BARE METAL RESPRAY" 2007, pics i got with car to show, no glass removed and some chrome not removed! the car is rock solid except boot floor and the rear panel has some rust, so its having new rear floor and a bit of tlc on rear panel. Like you say, theres a bare metal job and then theres A BARE METAL JOB! everything else is gonna be new as the huge pile of parts in boxs i have purchased over the past 2 years are waiting to be fitted. cant wait!

Collecting parts a few years before you start, is a wise move & helps with the financial drain, also allows the build to progress.

Once again, good luck mate & there plenty on here who can advise or assist you.

Not me I'm afraid , I'm only good for cutting them up - ha ha ;) :)

Wish I'd done that!

It takes guts to take a car back to bare metal but as I see it if you're planning on keeping it then its the only way! :thumbright:
