Can anyone tel me which gaskets fit either side of the hollow screw piece that holds the oil filter plate to the blocj (and the filter itself) Desperate to address major oil leak
There are 2 (i think) one thin and one thick fibre washer.
Causing real hassle Dave, I really (seriously) need to know how oil filters flow as that might explain the problem. i've got really good presure from the priming tool but it then blows out oil from under the filter
Couple of thoughts, is the oil filter bottoming on the mounting stud before the rubber sealing ring is tight against the plate? I would think that the washer that goes behind the plate would be about the same thickness as the plate gasket. Never had a small block with one of these on before.
Could be Blue, filter goes on pretty much hand tight. When i stripped the remote filter set up off there was no gasket on the filter mounting screw and that didnt leak. I have found a thickish cork gasket that looks as if it cushions and helps the filter seal. I'll try again tomorrow. Never known this problem before. Got to admit its getting me down a bit. Straw and camels back and all that
Miles , from memory the threaded part that screws into the block has NO gasket either end , just screw it into the block and screw the filter onto it. make sure it goes all the way in or it will hold the filter off causing it to leak .
