FFS!!!

Post by Pete »

Backed the Bee out of the garage and it cut out.
I thought it must still be cold, but it would not re-start.

A quick check indicated no spark.

Could not push the car by myself up the driveway.

In a moment of brilliance (??) I coupled the Guzzi to the car with a ratchet strap to pull the car up the slope. The strap snappped!!!

Got another one and whilst it did not snap, the 850cc Guzzi would not pull the car; one heavy bitch!!!

Finally had to admit defeat and Roydon can over and helped my get the car back in the garage...

Further tests proved the MSD AL6-2 has failed. Brilliant!

So much for getting some miles on the car before the Nats.

Gimme Strength!!!!!!

Something has got to go right soon

I feel your pain mate!

Just when you think things are going well and BOOM something breaks, leaks, overheats, falls off, fails or just doesn't do what it's Bananarama! supposed too!!!

Chin up though atleast you know what the issue is. :thumbright:

I have had about 4 fail now - the Digital 6's are the most unreliable; and of course there is no come back

They are just a big alloy box full of Bananarama! all. Total Rip off..........

At least it gives me a chance to re-locate the spare MSD I have away from the the Firewall. I want to hide it as they are not the prettiest of items. Then again, they are bloody big to "hide" and the lift off hood is not the most waterproof of items....

It's a shame because they have all the facilities you would ever need for a road or basic race car.

However that counts for Bananarama! when they break all the time......

Most likely on the Grille side of the Radiator support, but I am worried about it getting wet. Also need to keep it cool.....Bloody things are 20cm long....

I do have more than one spare, but I am actually quite reluctant to sell them due to the reliability issues.......don't want it comming back to me and also it is very hard to determine whether they will work at peak PRM.

As Duncna intimated, they seem to either work or not work.......

Wow after reading this I can see why you are Bananarama!.

They are very sensitive to heat and water I have had one for 15 years mounted on the firewall , I do keep a spare ,have never used it ,I just wonder if mounting location is causing failure, heat and moisture ,you really dont drive the car that much for these to keep failing ,I have at least 50k miles on mine track and road ,perhaps find a new location out of the elements.I know they are hard to hide but a new location sometimes works ;)

I'll put it in the glove box on mine when I fit one, but I'm a bit reluctant to seeing as how many on here I see fail
Stick with the old FBO ignition for the time being ;)
