Radiator options and trans cooler advice

Post by Dart Vader »

What I have is the following

1x 318 radiator with the transmission cooling at the bottom, but has broken lower water pipe outlet

1 x 340 radiator from Simons old RR, but does not have trans cooler as his was a manual, all water inlet/outlet pipes are fine

As I have gone 360 and 727, road use not race, the questins are

1 would it be better to get the 318 rad repaired and use it

2 use the 340 rad and get a separate trans cooler, if I do where is best to mount it as I have an electric fan set up.

Advice please and thanks in advance

The factory rad/cooler pieces were cheaply made and a compromise.
Even factory's used proper coolers for trans, even manuals, axles, etc.
Personally I'd nab a cheap used cooler from the Nats, DaveB is likely to have one and mount it in front of the rad on the pass side cos the lines are already there I think. It'll do a better job of looking after the trans fluid and keep the engine cooler too :thumbright:

I would always go separate Trans cooler - does not have to be a big Bananarama! off racing one!!!!
