Having real problems with my 383 repaired the broken rocker adjuster, now seem to have loads of valve train noise. Taken cam out and all seems well any way of checking lifters could do with advice here as I just seem to be going round in circles at great cost

Just a few thoughts Steve.
Have you got a high lift cam in there so you may be getting spring binding?..hence the broken adjuster and you may have bent a few pushrods.
If that's all OK, I know it sounds silly, but have the lifters got plenty of oil getting to them? When they are empty, you can push the piston down easily, when they are pumped up, they are nearly solid.
Sorry If I'm stating the obvious Steve, but if you like, I'll drop around a good set of standard 383 hydraulic lifters, if you want to give 'em a try, I'm only half an hour away.

Have a look at the wear pattern on the lifters
I had a fair bit of trouble with lifters not rotating in their bores recently, which caused loads of hassle, apparently theres a few dodgy batches of lifters going around accoring to people on moparts

Terry R Jimmy Hibbard built the engine so anything is possible you know what these ford fanatics are like
