Is there a non-Isocyanate 2K clear available which actually sets off OK. I've heard all manner of problems with "Isofree" 2K which ICI used to make and maybe have now withdrawn due to it having hardening problems. I have heard rumours about new non-Isocyanate products coming onto the market with the durability and hardness of a proper 2K but can't seem to find much about them anywhere.
I'm interested in the durability of a 2K clear but not wanting to poison half my neighbourhood.
People have been talking about it for years, but no one has come up with anything that's a patch on the iso hardened two pack lacquers.
Opel in Germany have been using a waterbased lacquer (which is a high bake material) and the cars never really look "new" the appearance of the clear is what's described by lab technicians as "sleepy".
The A series Merc is painted with a non iso slush/slurry type material electrostatoically, but that's a high bake too.
For refinish there are one or two that are supposed to be available, but the performance is not up to modern refinish requirements, they either lack the gin clear look the customer demands or need an hour at 80 degrees C.
Stick with the current iso product, you won't be using a lot and you can always fit a dry flter onto your extractor fan, to catch the overspray. Luckily, I live in the middle of nowhere, so it would be extremely unlikely I would sensitise anyone, but if you are in a residantial area, common sense dictates a filter.
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.
