Twinnie's NEC pics

Post by RobTwin »

Just up for the Saturday this year. A day trip makes for a long day, especially when you get a puncture 2/3 into the journey (just as we got on the M6) and have to drive the remainder at 50(ish) on the spacesaver, and all the way home too  Must have added 1.5 hrs to our travel time
My fault tho, didn't notice how little tread there was on the inside shoulder of the tyre

Didn't let it detract from our day at the show, tho. Had a good chat with the usual faces and a few new ones, and in between took a few pics...

Thought the stand looked great - well done to the car-booking committee :) And all the car owners of course - every one a winner :thumbright:

Oh and we managed to avoid the £10 car park fee - they'd all gone home & shut up shop by the time we got back to N7 car park  That's £10 towards the new tyre fund.

Here's a few pics what we took - mostly mine and a few of Stu's thrown in for good measure....

They came out really good Rob, all that standing around with the tripod (ooer) paid off.
Prices seemed mental on quite a few cars, Dunc.
A tidy Bullitt Mustang lookalike just £50k, a couple of early 80's XJ6's (maybe 1 was a V12 daimler?) for £26k & £28k, one company selling a pair of TR5's for £35K each, and a TR6 at just £25K.
I think the £75k Jensen was just a nicely restored car, not converted to CH**y. A tad overpriced but it was sold.
Makes the 1.1 Escort a bargain.

Asking and getting are different things, but I guess you only need one rich mug........there were clearly a few people there with a great sense of humour who think the recession is over....

Thanks Pete - yes, it's not ideal in there. There are some areas with different (whiter) lights, and some larger stands like the Jaguar stand that have lots of extra white lights, which is nice, but red cars and white cars always seem to cause a problem

The Meguiars stand is usually ok, except this time I forgot to put my settings back to where it gives the best results (ISO64 instead of ISO400 or 800), so those pics arent as sharp as usual :(
That doesn't detract from the Muira's looks tho, it's still the best looking car, ever :D
Relieved to hear you missed it!

Yes Dunc, there were some lovely S types and a 420, which I've always had a soft spot for (and it's daddy, the 420G =P~ ).

I was thinking that 'REJEN' Jensen had the LS3 running gear like in the display, which would just about justify the price but a closer look at the bumpf shows it's just another restored original

Thanks, yes it is a pain, but worth it when they come out like those Bugatti pics did :thumbright:

The prices that got to me tho, were the Mk1 Escort 'rally' car & the Ferrari 'Dino'.
Both clones and both £55k. Ferchrissakes
