73 Duster Speedo cable

Post by kev73dart »

Hi All

I am trying to replace the speedo cable on my 73 Duster, but I can't seem to find the right one in the USA?
All listings for Mopars around this era point to cables with small screw connections on both ends or small screw connection on the box end and plastic push fit connector on the dash end.
I have purchased one which is 80" long and has the correct push connector on the dash end but the small screw connector on the gearbox end BUT the one fitted to mine has a large screw connector going into the box with a 1 inch nut.
Does anyone have any idea which car this was fitted to?

Engine is 360 and Trans is 727

Thanks
Kev

Hi

If you have the old outer sleeve that fit you car you can just buy the inner cable from speedy cables.

Alot simpler than trying to find on from the states.

Send them the pair of them, they will be able to sort it, used them many times over the years. Funny story (sort of) They were in Islington for many years so I used to go down there, absolute pain to park. Then they moved to 500 yards from my house, I thought Result! then a year later they moved to Wales.....

Sorted

Hi All

Sorted the Speedo cable, mine has a 7/8 screw thread on the Trans, ATP who manufacture cables over here told me there are only 2 different options on a Mopar, 5/8 thread and 7/8.

Cable cost me $18 so well happy!

I also have a new cable that I bought that was wrong for my car. It is listed for many vehicles such as Fury, Dart etc
It is 80" long, push fit on the instrument end and smaller 5/8 screw connector on the Trans end. I will put it in For Sale section when I get back to the UK next weekend.
Cheers
