Is this true? I saw this on another site and wondered?

"Now I don't want to give anyone the impression that I think I know everything about cars...'cuz I don't

But, being an old(er) car guy that has been studying the subject for close to a 1/2 century it's not everyday I learn something new.
So most of you guys an gals know that some mopar's came with reverse threaded lug nut on the drivers side right? I thought they were the only ones.
But did you know Roll Royce's Had the same design on the lugs well into the '80's? I didn't!
They may still have that design for all I know. :clueless:

"

I think the question is just about the drivers' side wheel nut threads - did RR's have LH threads too and did they continue that way into the 1980's?

That's the way I read it anyhoo :read2:

ah that will teach me to not read the thread fully, and yes same applies with the lh thread in the yrs i mentioned, and they all had brass nuts, very expensive

The only difference is that the UK cars will have the l/h thread on the passenger side.

I have a KIA minibus in the Philippines with LH thread lug nuts on the drivers side. Boy, did I struggle to loosen them when changing a wheel, until, someone suggested they might be LH thread. Great idea really as stops nuts coming loose with wheel rotation, having said that I have changed them to RH on the Satty.

How many years and types of Mopar were they built like this?
Did it just appear on heavy duty drivetrain options?
My Chally has regular studs and so does my little Cuda, my van does too.

It was early 70s when they stopped but can't remember exactly when. Think it was done for about 10 years on mopars.

First thing I did was replace all the LHT studs with RHT on my Chally back in 1989. Two had already been snapped off by wrench monkeys.

100% true, used to be a tyre fitter, rollers did indeed have LH thread on left hand in a similar fashion to commericals, believe the Bentlys of that era did too.
