Trunk lid springs

Picked a set of trunk torsion springs for me car today of a very nice man in Surrey....Any tips on fitting them ????i have been told they are a nightmare

That's the sort of tool I could have done with taking the buggers out, ended up using lever bars, bloody nightmare.

I use a large adjustable spanner to force 'em into place. Very easy unless they slip off and knock yer teeth out......

seem to rember a long bit of rope a trolley jack handle and a big bunch of rags for the blood

got them in and they pushed the left hinge off it mount smashing the guts out of the press on star washer and i was back to square one.

hack sawed end of hinge pin and stuck a circlip on and started again

remeber to keep the boot lid propped open on yer head if you climb in for a better look.........!

they don't work if you don't have the plastic sliders

suggest a big daddy style wrestling suit is mandatory

and a GSOH

Had another go today,it didnt go welll ....i gave up after two hours, well it was more of an organised retreat than defeat....Damage count one big screwdriver bent beyound repair,pry bar well its prying days are over ,about a pint of blood ,and i think some skin grafting will be needed...But its not over ,,i will be back in the garage as soon as the doctors give me the ok.....only next time i will be mob handed

It's easier with two people took us about 10 mins.
