2x silly questions

1. Can it be mounted upside down like picture ?? ( I would say no but loads are Like this !!!!)

2. Can I paint the cooler I don't see why not but thought I would ask.

Any advice before I try to screw 2 oil coolers to the front on my car

Thanks in advance

Well I never I thought it would have an airlock ('')

Black on the outside silver on the in very clever

I take it that's a sandwich plate between filter and pump ?

Some of my mates jap turbo lot

Suggested a thermostat on the engine oil cooler
But never seen one on a Mopar ????

Also the coolers I'm looking at come with optional fitting ( mounted on the cooler exit/entrance )

-8
-10
-12 JIC male

1/2
3/4
5/8 BSP males

What would be recommended for engine and trans coolers ???

This would reflect pipe size so what is recommended ???

Also remember Guy fitted big transmition pipes and had to install a reducer.
Can't think what the problem was ????

The fluid passed through the cooler to fast and and it didn't cool it temp would continue to climb way past 210 and beyond, I then fitted a restriction bush and it never went above 190 when cruising it would be about 170.

If your worried about air locks etc turn it through 90 deg so you have one fitting at the top and one at the bottom.

I've had them both ways up on bikes, makes no difference. Any air will get shoved out the cooler very quickly by the pressure!
I've had them silver and matt black, also no measureable difference :thumbright:

What size lines and fittings should I get.

Anyone going to deal me in or do I have to make more mistakes ;)

Pretty please

I used -8 AN for engine oil and -6AN for trans fluid.

i'd run a thermostat.

take off plate with a stat and bypass

stat opens and diverts through the coooler at a temp when the oil is above optimal operating temperture

you combine this kinda thing with a water thermostat that compliments, and the appropriate sized pulley on your water pump (too slow no good, too fast causes errosion due to cavitation) so that the engine stays bang on whatever is the current thinking on optimal temp..
radiator cap pressure taken into account

usually a bit higher than the 175 f standard stat for sunny states 185 or 195 stat might be better if it wasn't for you plans for forced induction

Let the oil run through the cooler all the time on a street car and it can run below optimal temp leading to higher fuel consumption more ware more chance of water contamination from condenstation and it saps power

not perhaps as necessary on a race car or indeed perhaps yours where forced induction makes for a hotter engine and engine bay anyway.

no idea about auto trans coolers. mine has SAE30 in and has a stick to change gear

Hose Aeroquip and the brainded stuff holly batman its is $$$$$$

Down the road tractor hose company can do all the hose for 1/4 of the price. Now the hose is only rated at 110c operating temp and short blasts of 150c 5000psi

yes it can only be used once and will look like a JCB

but must be a reason why i shouldn't use this stuff ?????

I get all my high pressure hoses done at the local hydraulic service place ,my power steering hose was a tenner, and he puts unions on that you can adjust so you can fit it how you like
