HI I'M IN THE PROCESS OF BEEFING UP MY FURY.
IT CAME WITH A 383 AND 727 BOX.
I BOUGHT A IMPERIAL 413 ENGINE AND BOX.
THE BOXES LOOK SIMILAR APART FROM THE REAR OUTPUT SHAFT HOUSING AND THE FURY HAS A LEVER TYPE CHANGER AND THE IMPERIAL HAS A CABLE TYPE CHANGER ON THE SIDE.
IS IT WORTH KEEPING THE IMPERIAL BOX AS SPARES AND APART FROM THE OBVIOUS WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES??
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED

THANKS

Fairly certain that the Imperial box is from a car with push button gear selection. Probably quite hard to find should someone need one. Internally I don't know what will interchange, Duncan, Bish or Blue will probably know. Plenty of stuff available for your box that will make it tough enough for most applications.

There are alot of internal differences between these two transmissions.
The pushbutton have different valve body, input shaft, torque converter, housing and the way the prop goes on.
The push button is great for a hot rod but if you want to use a floor shifter then use the more modern 727 as all you need is one cable to oerate it. The push button have two cables to operate it. One for the gear selection and one for the park cable. These push button trannys can be a paint to seal as there are alot more places for them to leak from.

Yep, although the pushbutton and the later 727 look to be very similar, there arn't many parts that interchange between them.
