Ok as a newbie to the forum I am going to ask the question that I hate when I see it from everyone else
Whats the largest sensible rear tyre/rim combination for the rear of a 1970 Challenger please?
We definately need to fill out the rear a bit more on ours..... cheers !

Dave R should be able to answer this - I think he may have done once or maybe twice in the past

A lot depends on the rear spring arrangement - whether they are in-boarded or Super Stock type as it impacts on the diameter and width tyre you can use....wheel choice and off-set has a huge impact as well..........

If you are talking stock suspension on 15 inch wheels you are looking at a 275 tyre on a 8 inch wide rim on the rear. 235 on a 7 inch on the front.
4.5 inch backspace I think from memory.

You can go wider with taller wheels and low profile tyres. Or by making some small modifications.

Ok Cheers Dave - I'll work around those parameters and use one of them wheel / tyre comparison webpages if I want to go larger rims / low profile tyres, etc.

I think Drew uses 17 inch rims and 275 rubber on all four corners of his 1970. But he had to make some minor mods to the arches I think?

I use a 9"x18" wheel with 4.5" backspace and a 285x40 tyre on the rear of my Challenger. Plenty of clearance all round

I can see what you mean but the general look of those wheels looks good to me... Do you recall the width of the rear rim and that tyre?
