No High-tech here, just a lot of bent tubes and a big engine. And a Trans-brake of course....

Running chronically behind schedule, I bet even the Nats is unlikely...

Managed to mock up the engine today. Bottom end is fully rebuilt by Geof Hauser; I just need to go through the top end.

It was the usual "Nothing fits" sort of day. I now know that Maziere Water pumps do not work with Gear Drive Mopars. Just as well that I had a "Plan "B"...... :roll: Now the Radiator does not fit... :roll:


Still loads to do...then it has to come completely apart for paint............


I think the Mopar fans will agree that this is a slight improvement - "Before" and "After":

The bit that is causing me the most concern is the lack of ground clearance.

I think we know what the run off area at Shakey is like :roll:

This picture was taken by placing the camera on the floor.....

Thanks to Duncan for the "Charlies" Pan....sump guard, anyone????

I am thinking of putting taller front tyres on so I get another inch ground clearance at the front of the car....

You can also see the "Camcoat" finish on the custom made Headers....

The car weighted 1500lbs with the all-Iron BBC in it. It ran a high 9 on the previous owners shake down run - without a Trans-brake.

The Keith Black motor is significantly lighter and probably makes double the power...

The Car will be called "OTT" - for "Over the Top".

I think it should probably be called "Death Wish".... :roll:

I plan to run it in the "Wild Bunch" Class..........if I can get anything to fit :roll:

your off your Bananarama! head........but i love it :lol: I think Pete and i may be wrong to get this tagged you may need a belly pan ... posibly a diaper as well...you could knock a belly pan up yourself ...

I think you could be right there Pete, that is one of the reasons for wanting to raise the ride height.....thanks for posting :thumbright:

I can only say pan and diaper Pete ,Grumpys was direct drive so no fluids to contain,, should the thing let go .... Geoff should have told you all this ...He runs a rail with a glide ......

Looks good Pete, think there is something in the rule book about minimum ground clearance, check with Geoff I'm sure he'd know, looks a pretty deep sump for a full length jobbie,

its not my bag and i dont really think the mtr fitted matters with this type of frame car, i would have bought the b block chevy though,.

It is a wet sump motor.

Geof knew I wanted the car tagged when we put the motor in.

In fact he said that there were faster AWBs out there that were much lower.

I need to talk to the guys that certify the cars for more guidance.

Roger Luty got Andy Robinson to re-certify the Ultrabell and the Flex Plate so I want to continue in that fashion.

I could not physically fit in the car when it had the BBC in it - Geof and I moved the motor forwards and lower to accommodate the Ultrabell / Starter motor and Oil pump, and lastly, Me!.

Speaking of which - I tried to offer up the massive KB oil pump - absolutely no chance so it will have to be a HV pump and one of those Billet Top hats from Milodon; it never ends.

Nice bit of kit that, not having ever been to Shakey I don't know what the run off area is like, but was told yrs ago its a bit grim, and you confirm that also so doubt if they've done anything to it to make it any better?...perhaps I'm wrong?

I would not run that there myself personally, not at 170mph+ top end, no matter how high you get it, except for perhaps some 1/2 to 3/4 exhibition passes and shut off, that way your still supporting the track which I'm sure you want to do.

Build it for the Pod, build it right, run it safe Pete. :thumbright:
