There's a knocking sound coming from the passenger side front on the Charger, noticed when investigating that two of the five wheel nuts are cracked (as can be seen (hopefully) outlined in the picture). The end of the nuts in question have mushroomed slightly as well.
Does this mean I've overtightened them at somepoint?
where can I get replacements from, I need them to be able to fit though the washers / rings (as seen in the second pic). Going to need a full set of 20 though, not taking any chances.

Yep the shanks are too long, bottoms out on the wheel stud and mushrooms it out, will eventually crack. Just get the shanks turned down a touch and you can reuse.
The end of the shaft is about 1mm short of coming through the wheel. I suppose they must just poke through enough to bottom out when fully tightened though.
Think I'll replace them all, had four out of five shear off on my Alfa, don't much fancy that again, they could do with looking better anyway.
Autofetish - the wheels don't need spigot rings, they fit properly with no gaps on the hub. Thanks for the info though

I bought a some wheels recently that came with the nuts, 2 were stuck in the wheel so I knew there was a problem.
I have come across this many times before. If you have aftermarket wheels please check this, it's dangerous because the wheel isn't fully clamped even thought the nuts are tight. It's particularly common on cars with factory disc brakes, there is a chamfer at the base of the stud that protrudes through the disc, if the shank is too long tightening it causes it to run up the chamfer mushrooming the end which is the cause of the nut getting stuck in the wheel. Here's one of the offending nuts, you can see a shiney witness mark where it'Bananarama! the chamfer and you can see it's mushroomed. Here's one of the "good" nuts, it sits back from the mounting face about 5mm and it clears, so thats the sort of clearance you need, the shank should never be flush.
Thanks for that Blue, must admit wheel nuts aren't something I've ever given any real thought to. Certainly going to be checking more closely in future though

So you have a massive issue with your rusty nuts but only because your sleeve is to big happy days

Worked out well in the end

Had that problem, just cut the nut shank with a hacksaw...Got a load of nuts from a place out Houndslow way, not Real Steel, little shop on the high st, seemed to do a lot of Escort stuff, plus hot rod gear, including a vast selection of wheel nuts.
