I had similar in the 'Bird, and it was schyte.......let me down at the Nats!!!

Some people in the 'States gut an old school battery and put a new high capacity one inside it............

If you want reliability I would go for a new style battery - or the best is probably on Optimax....

Hi Adrian (Glen?) - we got ours from Mancini, in the States. Got them to send it to Ron's place in Florida, who then shipped it over in his container. So it took a while, but we werent in a hurry at the time.
Trouble is, it sat in the garage for another year or so, and was pretty flat by the time we came to use it

But with a bit of coaxing, with one of those fancy battery conditioner thingies, it works ok now.

I'd like to think it would have been fine if we hadnt left it unused for such a long time.

Personally, I'm happy to put up with the inconvenience, for the correct 'look' it gives. Something like an Optima battery, in a stock-looking engine bay (if that's what you're aiming for), sticks out like a sore thumb. IMHO :D

Hi Rob

Yes the OEM look is what I am aiming at, would think these batteries or ones like them are made with modern internals, especially as they are sealed for life type.

Hi, I'm not sure how these were originally used, but I carry this 'Mopar Battery Decal' that you can use to make an modern battery look a bit more retro?

I'm definitely up for one of these, maybe a group buy through Ron @ STS and split the shipping?

That could be a option, the shipping is the problem. It would seem they need to come in a container, as batteries a no no for UPS etc.

You can get battery toppers that make new batteries look like the old ones...they are cool but a pain to fit apparently...will dig out a link

Clever idea and works well in the picture, but unfortunately in the Charger the side of the battery is very visible, so you need the full battery to look correct.

batteries can be shipped dry

then visit the chemist to order your quanitity of sulphuric acid.
they will probably hand you off to a local supplier of schools labs and universities

worth proving what its for and indeed having them deal with the filling

so they don't think you are a stalker with revenge in mind or a terrorist

Yes but these batteries are sealed for life type, so thats not possible.

I know PedaltotheMetal in the Netherlands keep them in stock so maybe next time I am in Holland I will make a trip to get one.
