68 Charger Front Sway Bar bent

Post by Glen63 »

Been working on the Charger today and have noticed the front sway bar on passenger side is bent inwards by about 2 inches, causing the link arm to rub on the torsion bar.

All the rubbers could do with replacing as well, but it is a factory fitted swaybar.

Question do I see if the local blacksmiths can get it back in line, buy a new standard one from Rockautos or go for a upgrade ?

Yes my first thought was just to get the local blacksmith to adjust back the couple of inches it is out.

But I presume these are tempered steel to give them some springiness , which could be lost if he heats it to bend it ?

Plus he says he is busy until after Christmas !! Have spoken to the guys at my local Land Rover place and they are happy to have a look at it, would be best to do it with a bench press, cold I think.

Speak to mr.Cannonball. He'll have dozens. You can get it shotblasted, powder coated, new set of mount bolts/rubber. Like new...
