My 74 Plymouth thread

Post by octanejunkie »

Well, i'd better start a thread on here, as parts are arriving, so it'll be in the workshop soon for a refresh. Was supposed to be this week, but my mate is having a new lift installed, and it went a bit pear shaped. No bad thing, as theres still some crucial bits i'm waiting for.
Anyway, here are a few crap pictures of how the car looks now...

Plan is to get it all up together mechanically as it has a few issues, and then sort out some detailing. Car is rock solid with no rust, so body and paint will be left alone.
Was going to get some traditional Rallye wheels to go on it, but the American Racing slots have grown on me!

I like this car, but something is wrong with that stripe.
I'm not usually a rivet counter but check this pic for correct application

Lovely-looking car! Always think there's something 'badass' about that shape.

Yes, quite right. The previous owner applied the stripe. When the car arrived in the UK it was just plain yellow apparently..

Wow, really, that's ironic as I rather like them without the strip as mentioned elsewhere. Phoenix graphics in the states do a kit that is correct for the car if you need it.
Car does look nice, I was admiring the panel gaps.
Gawd, I sound even more like a rivet counter
Anyway, nice to see these cars starting to be appreciated. :thumbright:

Not much i can do about it, as the main portion of the stripe is painted, so it will be staying, "factory" correct or not. Lol

Will be doing something about the gay "383" purple decal on the bonnet. Will paint that infill, then adapt a 71 decal i think.

First Mopar I was ever in was one of these when I was taken out for an evening by three teenage girls in Ontario, June 1979.

I will never forget that night for all sorts of reasons. But one of them was the acceleration of the car when we were concerned about a following Police car stopping us for drink driving. The one I was in had a 440. That was the real birth of my big block Mopar fascination.
