Alternator regulator voltage in a '69 B Body

'69 Big Block with A/C alternator. Checking output voltage from a choice of two electronic regulators.

One read 14.5v, the other read 14.8v. I was expecting 12.5-13.5V.
Sounds way too high. Was this because the car was just started and the voltage is higher?

Should I check in 5 to 10 mins? I have an old points regulator i can try as well.

If it stays at that voltage when you rev it up to about 3000rpm then happy days, if it fails to regulate you may have an issue.............

Sounds fine. Strictly speaking I would use the 14.5v one as I think the maximum recommended charging voltage is 14.4v (but in practice 0.1v is neither here nor there).

As long as it stays over 13.5 with all your accessories on and under 15v you are good to go.
